The Forest Railroad: Farewell to the Sherman Hill route
On the 7th April 1979, the Union Pacific route opened at the Forest Railroad Theme Park in Dobwalls, and for the next 27 years, locomotives tackled the fierce 1 in 65 gradient of the Sherman Hill route with miniature Union Pacific and Rio Grande super-power in the form of the mighty UP 4-8-8-4 'Big Boy' X4008 William Jeffers, the impressive FEF 4-8-4s 818 Queen of Wyoming & 838 Queen of Nebraska, and Rio Grande K37 2-8-2 498 General Palmer. The line and park closed forever on the 29th October 2006, together with the original Rio Grande route. Witness the final train to be hauled over the Sherman Hill route by the 'Big Boy.' This edition also includes rare cab footage from the footplate of 'Big Boy,' giving the viewer a true impression of what it was truly like to drive and fire a 'Big Boy' 4-8-8-4! Sadly, this legend of miniature railway engineering has now passed into history forever, with the site being completely redeveloped as the 'Falcon Ridge' complex. So join us now as we journey through the Forest Railroad, where America is recreated in miniature and savour this slice of America in deepest Cornwall.

The Forest Railroad: The Next Chapter
This programme, some 3 years in the making, examines the final season at the Forest Railroad Theme Park at Dobwalls, where we see Rio Grande and Union Pacific steam locomotives working hard over the famous Sherman Hill route. We examine the final day's operations, including footage of the last train over Sherman Hill, and rare cab footage from the world famous Union Pacific 4-8-8-4 'Big Boy.' As 'Big Boy' is put away for the final time, we investigate the fascinating redevelopment of the Dobwalls site, before examining the collections removal to the Plowman's Miniature Railroad in West Parley, Dorset. The programme concludes with the next chapter of the Dobwalls story, as the Plowman's Railroad is opened to the public for the first time. We see how, on the 22nd November 2008, 'Big Boy' hauls her first public passenger train in over 2 years, and we witness the sheer power and speed of this miniature giant! All of this is now history, as the entire Dobwalls Collection has now been shipped to Australia, making this DVD a must for all those who want to remember the Forest Railroad with affection!
