Welcome to the Classic Steam Photographics website:
Classic Steam Photographics
Welcome to the Classic Steam Photographics website, the new name for Classic Steam Images, which is part of Classic Traction, a business that is owned and managed by Steve Andrews. Classic Steam Photographics is a site dedicated to providing the finest selection of contemporary images of steam locomotives at work throughout this country, as taken by some of this country's leading photographers. Many of our photographers will need no introduction, whose work regularly graces the pages of such magazines as Heritage Railway, Steam Railway, Railways Illustrated and Railway Magazine. In addition to providing a fascinating portfolio of British steam at work throughout the British Isles, you will also find images of individual locomotives, as well as carriages & wagons, signals and infrastructure such as signals, signal boxes, bridges, viaducts and station buildings.
How to use the site & what is available to our clients:
The site is arranged geographically covering the whole of the British Isles, from the West of England to the Highlands of Scotland with specific portfolios dedicated to individual preserved railways, such as the South Devon, Great Central or East Lancs. In addition, there are sections dedicated to specific sections of main line steam operation, such as Devon & Cornwall, Fort William to Mallaig or the Settle & Carlisle, or alternatively, specific trains are also covered, such as the 'Jacobite,' the 'Great Britain' tours or the summer dated 'Torbay Express' or 'Scarborough Spa Express' excursions. Finally, we aim to provide a portfolio of images on every British steam locomotive in preservation, in addition to those images seen on preserved or main lines, or in museums or on static display.
